Firebird is a relational database system, that suppports most ANSI SQL features. The open source project started in the year 2000 based on the source code of Borland InterBase. Firebird uses a free license, which also allows unlimited usage and distribution in commercial projects. Starting with a small embedded version up to the full featured server version available for Windows, Linux, Mac, Sun, etc., it can be easilly included in distributed applications. Holger gives an overview about customer projects where Firebird is used and the new Firebird driver available in Delphi 2010.
